Emergency Preparedness (Updated 2/6/2023)
The emergency evacuation exercise for Skyestone to be led by the City and County of Broomfield (CCOB) has been scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 22 from 9 am to 3 pm. In this voluntary drill, Bobcat Court residents will be evacuated to provide fire and police officials the opportunity to practice coordinating their responses in case of a real emergency. This is the first exercise of its type in Broomfield.
CCOB and North Metro Fire Rescue officials detailed their plans at a Jan. 31 presentation at the Lodge. Dave Halen from Broomfield’s Office of Emergency Management was joined by North Metro Fire Chief Dave Ramos and Broomfield Police Department Commander Nick Sprague to address residents’ questions.
One of the main takeaways: All residents should sign up for
Lookout Alert, the system now used by CCOB, Jefferson County and City of Westminster to notify the community in case of emergency. The previous system, CodeRED, was discontinued in June 2022. To sign up, click on “
Emergency Preparedness”.
Lookout Alert operates on the platform of Smart911, which also can be downloaded as an app on your smart phone.
